WICKLOW manager Mick O'Dwyer denied last night that he had turned down the Dublin manager's job last year, WRITES LIAM KELLY
A report in a Sunday paper quoted O'Dwyer as saying that was the case but O'Dwyer was keen to clarify the situation.
He said he had been offered the position of Dublin team boss but that it had been in "in John Bailey's time, five or six years ago."
"I was offered it, and I certainly did think about it, but I didn't take it. It must have been a mis-print (Sunday's article)," he said. "There was no question of me being offered the Dublin job last year. No question.
"It was about five years ago when I was in charge of Laois. There was an offer and I did consider it, but that's all about it," he said.
