McLoughlin gets All Star call-up

MAYO felt he was unfairly overlooked for a 2012 All Star but Kevin McLoughlin has got the next best thing, after being called up as a replacement for this week's GAA/GPA tour to New York.
Mayo's two in-a-row Young Player of the Year Cillian O'Connor has also got the call-up, as has Donegal's Anthony Thompson. This year's replacement All Stars also include Wexford's Ben Brosnan, Kerry's Tomas O Se and Brendan Kealy, and Cork's Eoin Cadogan, Donncha O'Connor and Paul Kerrigan.
The travelling party for the tour departs for the Big Apple tomorrow. It consists of players from the 2011 and 2012 All-Star teams who will play an exhibition game at Gaelic Park on Saturday.
Pat Gilroy and Jim McGuinness (2012 team) will manage the sides and the tour will bring former Donegal star Kevin Cassidy face to face again with McGuinness, who controversially dropped him last winter for co-operating with a book that the Tir Chonaill boss hadn't sanctioned.
Three players – Donegal's Karl Lacey and Neil McGee and Dublin's Paul Flynn – were selected on both the 2010 and 2011 All-Stars teams.
And with several others unable to travel or injured, a dozen players have been added as replacements.
