A clinical goal in the 49th minute by Leo McLoone finished off Kingscourt in a pulsating clash at the Stars' O'Raghallaigh Park base.
McLoone's finish put the visitors into a 1-11 to 0-9 lead and the Cavan champs were fighting a lost cause.
The teams were deadlocked on six occasions. However, the Stars only scored a point between the 34th and 52nd minutes as the Donegal side registered 1-6.
Naomh Conaill went two points up against the run of play after eight minutes, but Kingscourt's Joe MacMahon pointed to level the score at five-a-piece and they went in a point up at half-time.
In the second half they extended their lead, but Naomh Conaill found their form and points from Anthony Thompson and John O'Malley gave them a lead they would never relinquish.
