McGuigan impresses on return after answering Tyrone SOS

BRIAN McGuigan returned to Tyrone football last night after answering Mickey Harte's SOS call.

With the Red Hands hit by a series of season-ending injuries, Harte approached McGuigan to come out of retirement. He was one of several of last winter's high-profile retirements and the Ardboe star responded quickly by lining out in a training match in Clogher last night where he impressed.

Harte has had to take dramatic action after losing a host of players, including Sean Cavanagh and forwards Kyle Coney and Ronan O'Neill, for the rest of the season.

McGuigan still has a short time to get up to inter-county speed as Tyrone take on Armagh in their Ulster SFC opener in just over a week's time.

Suggestions that other retired Tyrone players could be invited back may be premature.
