McEneaney runs amok
BIG championship victories are a rare treat for the Wee County, but Kieran Maguire's U-21s gave success-starved Louth followers plenty to cheer about with a 20-point drubbing of Wexford in Dundalk on Saturday.
After a sluggish start, the home side exploited a lapse in concentration in the Wexford defence when Derek Maguire picked up a loose ball and slotted a neat finish past Myles Roche in the sixth minute.
Louth were in complete control of the contest and racked up another goal and nine points without reply to leave Wexford reeling. Any hope the visitors had of weathering the storm vanished 30 seconds before the break when Jim McEneaney picked out Paraic Smith with a superb 50-yard pass and the full-forward slotted past Roche.
Louth retired 2-9 to 0-4 in front at the break. McEneaney and Niall Conlon added further points before the former slammed a penalty to the net. McEneaney slotted another spot-kick past Roche for Louth's fourth goal.
