ATHLONE Community College eased past hosts Salesian College in yesterday's clash at Celbridge.
The visitors got off to the perfect start when a point from Eoin McCormaic was followed immediately with a goal from the same player.
That would be Athlone's last score until 10 minutes into the second half, but Salesians were unable to make the most of their opponents' profligacy in front of the posts and went into the break trailing 1-1 to 0-2.
An early second-half free from Kevin Flynn cut the deficit to just a point but once Killian Bannon pointed soon after for Athlone, it was all one-way traffic.
Further scores from Kenny Dolan, Eoin Fallon (2) and Ray Connellan put six points between the sides.
Late scores from Brian O'Shaughnessy and McCormaic confirmed Athlone's passage into the next round.
