Mayo turn on style

Mayo 2-14 GMIT 0-6
FBD CONNACHT LEAGUE

With both of these teams out of contention, Mayo manager James Horan threw caution to the wind by giving attacking roles to defenders Lee Keegan and Richie Feeney in Ballinrobe.

Although the opposition were poor, both Feeney and Keegan made an impact, the Westport man scoring three points and Feeney scoring Mayo's opening goal on 20 minutes.

Mayo were well in control and led by 1-9 to 0-2 at the break. John Ryan registered two late points for the students, who were out of their depth against the Connacht champions, who started four of the side that lost to Donegal in the All-Ireland final.

The game was effectively killed off when Keegan set up Conor O'Shea for a tap-in goal with 20 minutes still remaining and, although GMIT fought back in the closing stages, they were out-classed.
