Masterson to rescue

WEXFORD eventually plotted their way to a two-point victory at Wexford Park -- but only after surviving some tense moments as Cavan staged a remarkable recovery.
Trailing 1-7 to 0-3 at the break despite having played with a strong breeze, Cavan rang the changes for the second half, and only three superb saves from Wexford goalkeeper Anthony Masterson denied them victory.
After sub Michael Lyng fired home Cavan's first goal, Masterson kept out efforts from Cian Mackey, Lyng and Eugene Keating. Wexford, who were thankful that Ben Brosnan was wearing his scoring boots, were left sweating when Lyng finally beat Masterson for the second time in the last minute.
