Masters will play, expects Cahalane
Former Cork football great Niall Cahalane believes his old side will start James Masters in the All-Ireland football final against Kerry.
Masters has returned to training in the last week after picking up a fractured jaw in Cork's All-Ireland quarter-final with Sligo which forced him out of the semi-final win against Meath.
Cahalane, who was part of the Cork team that last won back to back All-Ireland football titles in 1990, feels Masters will be included.
"Up to when he got injured, James Masters was top scorer in the championship. I'm fairy sure that if he is fit the Cork selectors are going to play. The word is that he is back training over a week so I presume they'll be giving it serious consideration," he said.
Cahalane feels the balance from last year's semi-final has tipped back to Cork.
"Kerry won the Munster title but if you go back to the All-Ireland semi-final in 2006 Graham Canty wasn't playing and Seamus Moynihan and Mike McCarthy were," he added.
"Young and Reidy are playing well but they still have a bit to travel and I feel the gap has closed."
"It may bring a bit of pressure on Kerry, as they will want to win back to back All-Ireland finals."
