Mahony leads from the front as UCC put on stunning display to rout DCU

A SUPERB all-round performance gave UCC a 29-point win over DCU in the opening round of the Fitzgibbon Cup at the Mardyke in Cork last night.
Trailing after Emmet Kent got the game's first score for DCU in the first minute, the hosts were in irresistible form, with Waterford's Pádraic Mahony finishing with 3-3 while Limerick's Willie Griffin helped himself to 2-5.
UCC led at the interval by 1-12 to 0-5. There was no relenting by UCC in the second half as the goals and points poured in.
Shane Bourke, Dean Brosnan and sub Brian Hartnett all impressed in this lopsided affair.
