Lynam on song for Westmeath

Conor Lynam led the way as Westmeath advanced to the semi-finals of the Leinster U-21 FC with a comfortable win at Athlone last night.
The captain scored six points (five from play) on a night when swirling winds made scoring difficult.
Despite playing against the breeze in the first half, the home side led at half-time by 0-6 to 0-3.
Offaly's first score didn't arrive until the 21st minute. That point came from midfielder Brian Connor, one of only two Faithful County players to score, the other being corner-forward Bernard Allen.
Offaly had plenty of possession in the second period but struggled to penetrate a packed rearguard.
And with Ian Coffey in fine form from frees and wing-back James Dolan contributing two points, Westmeath pulled away.
The margin would have been greater but for a fine save from Gavin Sheil, who denied Ger Egan.
