Longford march on

David Barden was in superb form as Longford stayed in pole position for promotion after a tense Shannonside derby at Pearse Park yesterday.
The sides were deadlocked at 0-2 apiece until the midway stage of the first half when Paul Barden bagged the only goal of the game, collecting his brother David's kick and lobbing Cathal McCrann.
Leitrim upped the ante after the break and closed the gap to just a point with 14 minutes to go. But the wind was quickly taken from Leitrim's sails after Wayne McKeon was sent off for a second yellow card.
Longford will secure promotion if they win in Carlow next weekend.
