Leahy rescues Clonakilty

Clonakilty CC 1-9
St Brogan's Bandon 2-6

Johnny Leahy's 62nd-minute free snatched a draw for Clonakilty CC in a pulsating final at Amahilla last night.

Leahy's point with the last kick of the game was a score his side just about deserved, but St Brogan's had been in control until they had two players harshly sent off for second yellow cards in the closing stages.

Reigning champions Clonakilty were full value for their four-point half-time lead after Leahy had helped himself to a goal and three points.

However, a period of sustained second-half dominance from the Bandon students was rewarded when Gary Farrell put them in front with a stunning goal on 52 minutes.

It looked as if they would hold on, but the dismissals of Mark Courtney and Farrell gave Clon' hope and after Cillian Cullinane had trimmed the margin to the minimum, Leahy stepped up to slot home a free from 25 metres and earn his side a replay.
