Laois minor star kingston pins hopes on club switch

Thursday February 12 2009

Laois starlet Donie Kingston has applied for a transfer to Arles Killeen from Barrowhouse, just 12 months after he had a similar application was rejected by the County Board.

On that occasion, Kingston temporarily withdrew from the county minor panel and refused to play for Barrowhouse at all as they slumped to the junior ranks after just one season at intermediate.

Kingston, who made such an impact during last year s All-Ireland qualifiers despite having only just completed fifth year, has made no secret of his desire to be playing senior club football.

Last year he was refused a transfer on the grounds that he was not living in the Arles catchment area. As he was a juvenile, this assessment was based on his parents' address.

While he is no longer a minor, it is thought he will have to prove that he has at least changed his permanent residence to within the catchment area to have any hope of pushing the transfer through.
