There was little romance at MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey yesterday as Donegal's top club side St Eunan's retained their SFC title in style against neighbours Termon.
After an untidy opening, St Eunan's effectively retained their championship with two goals in a five-minute spell before half-time.
Firstly, the roaming Rory Kavanagh drove through the Termon defence and, with men right and left, played a neat interchange with Kieran Sharkey that enabled the Donegal centre-fielder to slap the ball home.
Then, two minutes into first-half injury-time, St Eunan's tore through for a second goal.
Another fine move, this time involving Kevin Rafferty, Brendan Devenney and Ross Wherity, tore the Termon backline apart and John Haran came from midfield to fetch the ball and drive home.
St Eunan's continued on their merry way in the second half, frustrating their opponents with flowing movement and picking points here and there.
However, when Damian Martin, the St Eunan's goalkeeper fouled Kevin McMenamin with five minutes left, Declan Alcorn's penalty brought his side back to six points -- 2-11 to 1-8 -- down.
Alas, his brother Mark was sent off moments later, having picked up two of the 15 bookings of the day. St Eunan's now take on the Tyrone champions in the Ulster club championship.
