Horan rages over Limerick's attitude
TIPPERARY 0-15 LIMERICK 0-9
MAURICE HORAN slammed the complacency of his Limerick players following their defeat against Tipperary at the Gaelic Grounds.
It was the Shannonsiders' first league defeat this year. They remain top, but are now just two points clear of Tipperary and Offaly.
Tipp lost their opening two league fixtures, but have stormed back into the promotion race with a run of three consecutive wins.
Horan watched his side miss two penalties and he fumed: "We were going around saying that we were promoted and it was just a mathematical formality, more or less.
"I thought we started off nice and bright, but just didn't follow through. We thought we were better than we are just because we won four games – but we're not."
Limerick led by 0-4 to 0-1 after 15 minutes, but Tipp rallied to lead by 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time.
Ian Ryan's first-half penalty was saved by Tipp goalkeeper Paul Fitzgerald and Ger Collins dragged his 53rd-minute penalty wide.
Tipp had a penalty chance themselves with 10 minutes remaining but Barry Grogan skied his effort over the crossbar.
Tipp boss Peter Creedon said: "It keeps us in the hunt – Offaly won and Leitrim won. Everyone's still in it. Eight points might still be enough (for promotion). There will be a few twists and turns yet."
