Horan: Limerick's got talent

Thursday October 14 2010

NEW Limerick football manager Maurice Horan believes the rising talent in the county can help them to a first Munster title since 1896, writes Donnchadh Boyle.

The Mayo native was officially ratified on Tuesday night and believes he has inherited a strong squad from Mickey Ned O'Sullivan, despite suffering provincial final disappointment for the last two seasons.

"On the one hand, a lot of the team are very experienced, heading towards the 30-year-old mark, but there is some very promising young players coming through as well, some of whom got senior exposure this year," he said.

"There is a great team spirit, a very hard-working panel and hopefully, we can blend it all and move that extra step next year."

Elsewhere, the GAA have confirmed that the Gaelic Ground's Mackey Stand has been sold out for Ireland's upcoming International Rules series clash with Australia on Saturday, October 23. However, a package covering both Tests in Limerick and Dublin is available for €35 from www.gaa.ie/tickets
