Heron helps Derry push on

Derry 5-9
Fermanagh 2-12

Derry needed two late goals from Benny Heron and Aaron Kerrigan to close out a score fest that initially they looked like winning easily.

Derry started well as Kerrigan blasted to an empty net early on as they opened up a 2-2 to 0-1 lead.

Fermanagh closed the gap to 2-3 to 0-5, but then Lee Moore blasted home his second goal to give Derry a seven-point interval lead.

Fermanagh roared back in second half and despite losing Joe O'Brien to a second yellow card, two goals from Chris O'Brien saw them take a 2-9 to 3-5 lead.

Derry settled down and with Caoleain O'Boyle leading the charge, they took over in the final 10 minutes as Heron and Kerrigan found the net to seal victory.
