OFFALY were relegated to Division 4 after this defeat in Clonmel yesterday.
Offaly, who registered 10 of their 13 wides in the first half yesterday, were desperately poor as new Tipperary boss Peter Creedon celebrated his first game in charge with a victory.
Tipp had nothing but pride to play for as they were already relegated, but Offaly were fully aware throughout that a win would have been enough for them to stay up, with Cavan losing to Antrim.
That was still not enough to stir a response -- although midfielder Brian Connor could do no more as he kicked four points from play and carried the fight to Tipperary.
Offaly were struggling in attack as their six starting forwards managed just one point from play between them.
At half-time, Tipp led by 0-4 to 0-2 but Offaly missed three early goal chances, with Hugh Coghlan going close for Tipp. Barry Grogan, who could be on his way to America for the summer, scored six points for Tipp.
And Creedon's substitutions worked a treat as Bernard O'Brien scored three points, while Donagh Leahy and Alan Moloney scored a point each as Tipp dominated the second half despite playing against the wind.
