Girls show off some smart moves

Those who delight in those half-time Cumann na mBunscol games at championship matches will know they always reflect adult trends. So we were not surprised to note the following in Croke Park last Sunday:

1. A little girl called Wumni Olajide, representing Graiguecullen NS, played for Laois.

2. Laois took a reverse leaf out of the Monaghan playbook: the girl wearing their goalkeeper's jersey actually played outfield and scored a cracking goal!

3. Two of Meath's girls proudly sported the sort of DayGlo luminous boots that were once the trademark of county legend Graham Geraghty.

Now Sam and Liam are not close observers of 'Hanna Montana', 'High School Musical' or 'Glee' but we believe the appropriate comment here is: 'You go girls!'
