Gallen out to make experience count
Leinster vs SfC 'a' final
Gallen CS Ferbane v Colaiste Bhride Carnew, O'Moore Park, 1.30
THE destination of this year's title is up in the air as two evenly matched sides meet this afternoon in Portlaoise.
Colaiste Bhride will hope that nerves don't affect them in the their first senior 'A' final, while Ferbane have more experience at this level, but have not won a provincial crown since 2005.
The teams have not met before, but the Offaly school are well warned of the Wicklow boys' ability after they overcame Dunshauglin CS in the semi-final. That same group from the Meath school beat this Ferbane team in the Leinster junior final two years ago.
Up front, Colaiste Bhride will hope forward Dean O'Toole links up well with former Wexford minor Conor Levingstone and Cormac Doyle. In defence they are without the suspended Dan Nolan, but Wicklow minor Stephen Murphy and U-21 panellist Martin O'Brien will provide a stern test for the Offalymen.
They field seven members of this year's Faithful minor panel and are looking to mark the opening of their new school buildings last week by bringing the trophy to the midlands.
Conor Lowry and Darragh Corbett will organise the defence, while Ciaran Cahill will be expected to win ball in midfield. If he can, the supply line to the likes of potent forwards Joseph Maher, Eoghan Lowry, Aaron McDonagh and Brian Grehan could be enough to see them home.
Verdict: Gallen CS, Ferbane
