Five year ban for Tyrone club Derryfresk after match brawl

DERRYTRESK – though cleared to take part in Sunday's All-Ireland Club JFC final at Croke Park - will not be allowed to defend their title if they win after being handed down a unprecedented five year ban from all provincial and All-Ireland competitions.
Central Hearings Committee at GAA headquarters in Croke Park also imposed bans on four of the Derrytresk players.
Another three chose not to contest their proposed suspensions and Joseph McKee was absolved of blame following the mass brawl at half-time of their semi-final against Kerry’s Dromid Pearses, in Port Laoise last month.
And the CHC sentence also restricts access to the sideline to the Derrytresk manager, whie the selectors will have to remain in the stands.
The water carriers will be supplied by the CCCC.
Kevin Campbell, Sean Slater, Michael Robinson and Brian Gavin all had their suspensions of two months reduced to one month, but they will still miss the final.
The club was also fined €5000, but this was cut to €2,500.
The club may decide to appeal the sanctions to the Central Appeals Committee, with the Disputes Resolution Authority also an option.
