Evans sticking to county line

TIPPERARY manager John Evans has refused to be drawn on the issue of payments to inter-county managers.
The Kerry native insisted after yesterday's McGrath Cup SF semi-final victory over UCC that he will abide by the official view of the Tipperary County Board.
Newly-appointed Premier County chairman Sean Nugent voiced strong opposition to any moves to pay top bosses.
And Evans said: "Whatever the Tipperary County Board decide, that's what I go under. If that's not payment to managers, then so be it. I'm under the umbrella of the Tipperary County Board."
Tipp, meanwhile, are through to a first McGrath Cup final since 2003 and will meet Cork in next Sunday's decider at the Clonmel Sportsfield.
Ace forward Barry Grogan took his seasonal tally to 4-12 from three matches with a haul of 1-5 yesterday as Tipp scored an eight-point victory over UCC, the current Sigerson Cup holders and Cork county champions.
