Entry from America adds to Kick Fada

The All-Ireland Kick Fada will have participants from all over the world today, adding to the special 'Gathering' flavour of what is the 14th annual event at Bray Emmets GAA club.

As well as notable 'home' kickers Brendan Kealy (Kerry), Paul Durcan (Donegal), and holder Damien Sheridan (Longford), Grid Iron specialist, Patrick Murray (New York) will enhance the spectacle.

The New Jersey native won the Big Apple leg of the Kick Fada with an effortless kick of 65 metres, which puts him among the favourites to land the title.

Patrick, a nephew of former Monaghan stars Ciaran and Brendan Murray, tried out as a kicker for the NFL in this year's pre-season. He was with the Chicago Bears in May and is on the shortlist for a number of franchises in the event of injuries.

Kickers from Canada, Britain, Europe and beyond will also be vying for glory in the Dublin Airport Authority-sponsored competition which kicks off at 3.0 in Old Conna Grounds.
