TIPPERARY are staring relegation in the face after slumping to a fourth successive league defeat at Semple Stadium yesterday.
Visitors Cavan eased their own relegation fears and showed no signs of missing Seanie Johnston as classy forward Martin Dunne led the way in the scoring stakes with a 2-4 haul.
A miserable afternoon for Tipperary was compounded by straight red cards for Brian Jones and Barry Grogan.
Cavan had corner-forward Brendan Fitzpatrick dismissed for two yellow-card offences in the first half.
Goals from Dunne and Mark McKeever helped Cavan to lead by 2-6 to 0-6 at half-time against a Tipp side that finished with just six points from play. Dunne and corner-back Barry Watters added further goals for the visitors in the second half.
Tipp now find themselves in a must-win situation as they head to Sligo next weekend.
