dublin's unfortunate treble

STARTING with their 2008 loss to Tyrone, Dublin have now suffered three of the worst championship defeats in their history.

It's an unfortunate treble, made all the more depressing by the concession of five goals in the Leinster semi-final loss to Meath at Croke Park last Sunday.

The following are the championship defeats suffered by Dublin where the losing margin was nine or more points.

1903: Kildare 3-11 Dublin 1-3 (Leinster quarter-final)

1941: Kerry 2-9 Dublin 0-3 (All-Ireland semi-final replay)

1945: Meath 2-16 Dublin 1-10 (Leinster quarter-final)

1960: Offaly 3-9 Dublin 0-9 (Leinster semi-final)

1969: Kildare 0-18 Dublin 0-7 (Leinster semi-final)

1978: Kerry 5-11 Dublin 0-9 (All-Ireland final)

1979: Kerry 3-13 Dublin 1-8 (All-Ireland final)

1982: Offaly 1-16 Dublin 1-7 (Leinster final)

2008: Tyrone 3-14 Dublin 1-8 (All-Ireland quarter-final)

2009: Kerry 1-24 Dublin 1-7 (All-Ireland quarter-final)

2010: Meath 5-9 Dublin 0-13 (Leinster semi-final)
