Doyle set to lead Kildare
Thursday November 12 2009
Ever-present John Doyle will captain Kildare again next year as manager Kieran McGeeney makes another tilt at the Leinster title.
The former Armagh captain has the authority to appoint his own skipper and he has no hesitation in asking the top scorer in the 2008 championship to lead them into battle.
"John did a great job this year and he will captain us again next season," said McGeeney.
Meanwhile, Derry's long-serving defender Sean Martin Lockhart is set to quit inter-county football. The 33-year-old won an All Star award in 1998.
