Donaghy gets all-clear for final after ankle injury scare
KERRY football fans breathed a sigh of relief last night after they were assured by two senior sources that Kieran Donaghy will be fit for Sunday's All-Ireland SFC final.
Manager Pat O'Shea is adamant there are no concerns over Donaghy despite an 11th hour injury scare which prompted fears he might be not able to face Cork.
Donaghy went over on his ankle in training on Tuesday night, but according to O'Shea, there was little damage done.
"You'll hear all sorts of rumours before a final, but Kieran will be fine. Every knock gets exaggerated at a time like this, but we have no concerns whatsoever on this one," he said.
And Kerry County Board Sean Walsh revealed that the 2006 Footballer of the Year continued playing after picking up the knock.
Cork, meanwhile, are not expected to include Anthony Lynch in their team when they announce their starting 15 tonight.
Billy Morgan and his selectors were due to pick the team on Tuesday, but decided to delay in the hope of getting a further medical bulletin on Lynch who fractured a bone in his hand at the weekend.
"He has seen a specialist and we are waiting for word on that," explained Cork selector John Corcoran.
"We don't want to rule him out prematurely."
However, James Masters is likely to be fit after recovering from a broken jaw."
