Dolan the hero for Moate

Moate CS 0-7
Scoil Dara, Kilcock 0-5

A brace of points in the closing eight minutes from Lorcan Dolan helped Moate Community School eliminate Scoil Dara, Kilcock, at Hogan Park, Moate, yesterday.

The game was marred by a horrific injury suffered by Moate's Luke Kelly in the opening minutes.

With Moate leading through a point from Dolan, Kelly was involved in an unfortunate clash with an opposition player which led to a broken leg. The game was delayed by almost 50 minutes while Kelly received treatment and was eventually taken to hospital.

Moate led by 0-2 to 0-1 at the interval, but Ross Tallon's score left the teams level, 0-5 apiece, with 10 minutes left. Dolan then took over and fired two exquisite points to send Moate into the second round.
