Doherty vows best yet to come from Donegal

DONEGAL 1-9
TIPPERARY 2-5

DONEGAL boss John Joe Doherty is ready to welcome back some established stars as he sets his sights on the forthcoming championship campaign.

Doherty says Rory Kavanagh will return to the squad in two weeks after a spell travelling while long-term injury victim Christy Toye is approaching full fitness.

Doherty is also confident that Eamonn McGee will return from London to bolster his squad and stressed that the door is always open for the versatile defender.

Donegal moved back into the hunt for promotion last Saturday night with a one-point victory over Tipp but Doherty was unhappy with his team's display.

But he vowed that any problems will be rectified in plenty of time for the Ulster SFC quarter-final clash with Down on May 30.

"We're still a good bit away," he said. "We're not gelling as a team."

Michael Murphy inspired Donegal's third NFL victory in five matches. He scored seven points for Donegal, who led by 0-6 to 1-1 at half-time in Thurles. Robbie Costigan netted for Tipp in the 57th minute but Donegal held on.
