Second-half goals from Tiernan Diamond and Tomas Quinn proved crucial as St Vincent's got the upper hand on Ballyboden St Enda's in the Dublin SFC quarter-final replay at Parnell Park last night.

The first half was an even affair, with county champions Ballyboden relying on Conal Keaney for crucial scores as they led by 0-6 to 0-4 at half-time, with Diarmuid Connolly the main focus of Vincent's attack.

Ballyboden started well after the break but were punished for sloppy marking as Diamond was allowed run unopposed to calmly slot his shot over the advancing Dara Walsh for the game's opening goal. The holders responded like true champions with Keaney kicking two superb points, but his efforts were undermined by the concession of a second goal in the 50th minute.

Quinn benefited from open spaces to coolly round Walsh for the clinching score.
