Referee Cormac Reilly issued two black cards -- one to each team -- as DCU maintained their 100pc record in this year's O'Byrne Cup with a deserved six-point win over Westmeath in St Loman's Lakepoint Park in Mullingar.

Goals from Conor McGreanor in the ninth minute and Paddy Fox in the 33rd helped the students to a 2-6 to 0-7 interval lead.

However, Paul Sharry (42nd minute) and substitute Dessie Dolan (53) found the net after the break to bring Westmeath back into contention.

The college side had more firepower in attack though, with Conor McHugh always prominent in the full-forward line.

They now face All-Ireland champions Dublin in a winner-takes-all clash on Sunday for a place in the semi-finals.

DCU had opened their campaign with an impressive 1-15 to 0-9 win over Louth.
