Dan still out in cold
Friday July 24 2009
There is still no place in the Waterford hurling line-up for former Player-of-the-Year Dan Shanahan.
The surprise withdrawal from the Deise hurling panel of Jack Kennedy after the Munster final loss left a vacancy in their forwards for Sunday's All-Ireland quarter-final with Galway, but manager Davy Fitzgerald has given it to Dunhill's Shane Casey.
Captain Stephen Molumphy moves to wing-forward, Eoin Kelly to full-forward and Casey slots in at top of the left.
Limerick, meanwhile, make widespread changes ahead of their All-Ireland quarter-final against Dublin. Mark O'Riordan returns at corner-back to replace Tom Condon, David Breen replaces Mike O'Brien at centre-forward and Wayne McNamara comes into the forwards in place of Donncha Sheehan.
Seamus Hickey starts at midfield in a positional switch with Gavin O'Mahoney and Paul Browne is moved from wing-forward to the left corner.
Wexford, whose battle to avoid relegation starts with a real dog-fight against Clare tomorrow, are boosted by the return from injury of full-forward Stephen Banville.
On the football front, Kieran McGeeney has kept faith with the 15 men who started the Leinster football final against Dublin for their fourth round qualifier showdown with Wicklow.
That means Hugh McGrillen holds on to his corner spot and Ken Donnelly stays at full-forward, as doubts persist over Eamonn Callaghan's fitness.
Roscommon football manager Fergal O'Donnell has had to draft in Enda Kenny and Donal Ward to his squad ahead of tomorrow's third-round qualifier with Meath.
David Keenan and Paul Gleeson are definitely out, John Nolan is a serious doubt and Cathal Cregg is carrying a knock though Gary Cox, who missed the replay, should be back after a bout of 'flu.
