Croker home comforts for Dubs

NOBODY will ever know for sure but Dublin's return to Croke Park for their home Allianz Football League games this year may have been the smartest move of all as they pursued that extra zip to fuel their All-Ireland ambitions.

It means that next Sunday's All-Ireland semi-final will be their 10th game at HQ since February, whereas Donegal have had two (NFL Division 2 final versus Laois and the All-Ireland quarter-final versus Kildare).

A venue doesn't win games but it has to be a considerable help to Dublin that Croke Park is now effectively their home ground.

Besides, was it pure coincidence that one of Dublin's most barren runs -- certainly in All-Ireland terms -- occurred while playing their league games at Parnell Park rather than Croke Park?

As for Dublin's league/championship record at Croke Park this year, it makes impressive reading: Played 9, Won 8, Lost 1.
