Cork v Limerick: The game at a glance

Man of the match
Daniel Goulding (Cork)
The only Cork player that could contend and the one that made all the difference. Made the searing run for that dubious penalty and got the goal that turned it in the second-half.
Turning point
Cork's second goal on 52 minutes. Limerick looked to be holding Cork at arm's length when Graham Canty drove from defence and floated an inviting pass into Colm O'Neill.
O'Neill had the good sense to bat down to Goulding, whose finish was sublime.
Talking point
Limerick came so close to bridging a 113-year gap since their last provincial football title success.
Ref Watch
Unfortunately Rory Hickey was influential, instinctively calling a penalty for a 'foul' on Goulding in the first half when the ball was out of his control. It threw Cork a timely lifeline when they were struggling. Benign in his application of yellow cards too.
They said
"Today had a lot to do with Limerick's performance. We expected that and we dealt with it as best we could on the day but we were extremely lucky. This team unfortunately has a habit of not doing things easy and today was one of those days. "
Conor Counihan (Cork manager)
"The big thing is very few people had seen Limerick play this year and they were stereotyping. There was no logic to some of the comments about Limerick football. But people live in ivory towers and don't go to the trouble of attending a training session and watching these guys. "
Mickey Ned O'Sullivan (Limerick manager)
