Clubs braced for sanctions as Croker seeks identities of brawling players

The two clubs involved in last weekend's All-Ireland junior club semi-final have been asked to identify protagonists in the brawl that is being investigated by the Central Competitions Control Committee.
The CCCC had their first formal meeting on the controversy yesterday, but some preliminary work had already been done on the match DVD and the disciplinary body hope to be able to conclude their investigations quickly when the clubs will be informed of the proposed sanctions.
Following on from the statement the club released on Wednesday, Derrytresk manager Paul Hughes has admitted they will have to accept the outcome of the CCCC's findings.
"We know that things have happened on the day that will possibly bring punishment on both clubs, but the GAA processes will highlight those things and we as a club will then work with the relevant authorities to complete whatever requirements are deemed necessary," said Hughes.
"No other approach will allow us move through this stage any quicker. If there are punishments, then both clubs will have to accept that as the outcome."
One leading official from Dromid Pearses, the Kerry club that lost the semi-final, has called for Derrytresk to be put out of the competition, the most radical course of action open to the CCCC.
Meanwhile, Dr Crokes have described as "misinformation", a suggestion that they were looking for crowd segregation at their forthcoming All-Ireland senior club semi-final against reigning champions Crossmaglen Rangers.
A club statement released yesterday qualified the remarks made by chairman Vinny Casey yesterday and they are adamant that crowd segregation was not the message they wanted to get across.
