Carroll goal the difference

Colaiste Choilm finally made their superiority count when Eoin Carroll's goal in the second half of extra-time saw off dogged Portlaoise CBS in a dour encounter in Portarlington.
Although they trailed by 0-6 to 0-2 after 18 minutes, the Tullamore boys were the better side but struggled to make it count on the scoreboard, despite Brian Norris' well-taken penalty, which left them 0-7 to 1-3 behind at the break.
They had enough chances to win in normal time, but Portlaoise hung on and a point from Conor Murphy deep into injury-time tied the game up at 1-7 to 0-10. It all proved in vain, though, as Colaiste Choilm dominated extra-time and Carroll's goal sealed their win.
