Two goals in the space of 50 seconds proved decisive as Coleraine claimed their first senior title.

Despite having had the lion's share of the ball for the first 37 minutes, Coleraine were trailing when captain Richard Carey lashed home shot from 13 metres to put them in front and when Colm McGoldrick palmed home just seconds later, they were on their way to an historic victory.

Ballinderry opened the scoring when Darren Conway kicked a super score on the turn, but Coleraine were the better team for most of the half and they led by 0-2 to 0-1, thanks to two frees from Barry McGoldrick, after 10 minutes.

Indeed, the Eoghan Rua men should really have been well ahead, with last-gasp blocks denying both Richard Carey and Colm McGoldrick certain goals.

It looked like Coleraine might pay for those misses as they could only muster two more scores from Barry and Ciaran McGoldrick before the break. The Shamrocks were much more economical, Colin Devlin and Conleith Gilligan kicking a brace of points each for a 0-5 to 0-4 lead.

After the goal blitz Coleraine were able to hold out, Man of the Match Deccy Mullan kicking two more points to keep Ballinderry at arm's length.
