Burke's volley proves crucial

Baltinglass set up another county final showdown with rivals and reigning champions Rathnew by overcoming St Patrick's in Aughrim.

Defences dominated but Baltinglass' key moment came in the 25th minute when the influential John McGrath floated a lineball into the goalmouth and Peadar Burke swivelled round his marker before volleying to the net. It gave Baltinglass a 1-3 to 0-3 half-time lead.

David Smullen's goal gave St Patrick's a lifeline but late points from McGrath, Burke and Joey Kelly sealed it for Baltinglass.
