A goal by DCU's Dublin U-21 cap Sean McGrath star helped put paid to a brave effort by Fingal under new manager Mick Kennedy at Lawless Park.
The students took just three minutes to find the back of the net when Padraig Brehony burst through and fired home.
Fingal fought back with scores from Colm Foley and JM Sheridan.
However, DCU then grabbed a second goal on 27 minutes when a crossfield ball found McGrath, who fired home.
That helped DCU into a 2-9 to 0-8 lead at half-time and although Fingal rallied, a second Brehony goal proved decisive.
