Brady loss rocks Royals
Tuesday November 17 2009
MEATH footballers have suffered the loss of a pivotal member of their backroom team for the coming season.
The Royal players gave Colm Brady a lot of credit for helping them reach the All-Ireland semi-finals last summer but the former county star has stepped down as team trainer because of work commitments.
He will be replaced by the experienced Sean Kelly, who led Navan O'Mahony's to a county title last year.
In Monaghan, it has been announced that senior football team manager, Seamus McEnaney, will also look after the needs of the county U-21 team for the 2010 season.
Bernie Murray has also been re-appointed as manager of the Farney's minor football team.
Meanwhile, Portlaoise might be favourites for the Leinster club title but they hold no fears for Clara, despite the fact that the Offaly champions will have to plan without midfielder Ross Brady.
Brady was the two-goal hero of the county final win over Rhode and also played a major role in overturning an eight-point interval deficit against St Laurence's of Kildare in the first round of the Leinster championship.
He was sent off towards the end of the first half of the quarter-final defeat of Rathvilly though and will be suspended for Sunday's semi-final in Portlaoise.
County minor Graham Guilfoyle slotted into Brady's position to good effect as the 14-man outfit dug deep once more to get the win and is almost certain to do so from the start against Portlaoise.
