Derry GAA legend Anthony Tohill is recovering in hospital after a freak gardening accident left him with facial lacerations.
According to a report in the Derry Journal, the 41 year old All-Ireland winner from 1993 and four-time All-Star was hospitalised after he had suffered the injuries while using a piece of cutting equipment.
His friend, 1993 Derry team mate and fellow GAA pundit Joe Brolly took to twitter this morning to deny reports he had suffered a serious eye injury.
“Big Anthony comfortable Badly cut face but eye ok and typical of him, feeling upbeat Tough for him to get used to but v strong mentally,” he tweeted.
Tohill, a native of Swatragh in South Derry, is one of the most recognisable faces in gaelic games given his illustrious playing career which yielded an All-Ireland title and two Ulster Championships.
He also represented Ireland in the International Rules series on eight occasions and managed his country to a resounding victory over the Australians in 2011.
