Connections of Forgotten Rules are expecting a big run from the lightly-raced five-year-old in the Palmerstown House Estate Irish St Leger at the Curragh on September 13 - granted ease in the ground.

Dermot Weld's charge is ready to return to the fray in the stayers' Group One after being freshened up following his under-par performance behind Bondi Beach at the end of June.

The fact that race came just 10 days after his fine effort when a close third in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot was blamed for his surprise defeat.

"At Royal Ascot in the Gold Cup he just didn't see it (the trip) out. We came back just a little too soon at the Curragh," said Weld's son and assistant, Mark.

"The fact that we only had to cross the road, quite literally, was a little bit too tempting. We just went to the well a little too quickly.

"He's had his break now. He's in great order. Coming into the early autumn, if it's slow ground for the Irish Leger at the Curragh he is definitely going to take all the beating."
