Despite competing in different combat sports, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have had a long-running mini-feud about who would come out on top if they ever decided to fight.

It is a ridiculous discussion - both because the proposed bout will never take place and because their disciplines are so different - but that hasn't stopped there being a lot of interest whenever they take a shot at each other.

The latest Mayweather to have a go at McGregor isn't Floyd at all - his uncle Jeff, an ex-pro boxer, has eviscerated the Dubliner in an interview with Fighthype last week.

A lot of people have said the McGregor hype ended with his shock loss to Nate Diaz a few weeks ago, and MMA fans who support the featherweight champion will likely be furious with the different arguments that Mayweather makes to cut the Irish fighter down.

"If Conor McGregor would have f**king won, oh my God, he would have been the greatest thing since f**king ice cream," Mayweather said.

"But since he lost, now they want to give him credit for going up; going up and getting his ass whooped. You don't get no credit for that. You chose to do that.

"Everybody listening to Dana White talking that stupid sh*t about Ronda Rousey beating up men and now they jump on Conor McGregor's bandwagon, they don't got no motherf**king wagon no more. That sh*t is over with. They don't got nothing else to talk about. It shows that they need Floyd to promote their sport."

Mayweather saved his most damning remarks for the prospect of McGrergor - or any other MMA fighter - ever fighting his nephew.

"Floyd has never ever said that he wanted to fight one of them," Mayweather said.

"He never said, "I'll beat Ronday Rousey," or "I'll beat Conor McGregor." Like I said, they had they little moment of fame. McGregor's lasted almost a year and Rousey's lasted about a year and a half. That sh*t is over with now. They can shut the f**k up about that dumb sh*t. They can shut the f**k up about what a MMA fighter can do to Floyd Mayweather because ain't sh*t going to happen to Floyd Mayweather."
