Dubs maintain winning start

Dublin made it three wins from three outings with a 2-14 to 0-16 defeat of Mayo at Croke Park.

Bernard Brogan inspired the Dubs with a breathtaking attacking display which saw him hit a 1-10 tally.

He grabbed a 32nd-minute goal to help Jim Gavin's men to a 1-8 to 0-8 interval lead, but Jason Doherty and Lee Keegan helped drag Mayo back into contention.

Mayo goalkeeper Kenneth O'Malley saved a penalty from his opposite number Stephen Cluxton, and it looked as if the westerners could claim a significant victory, until substitute Kevin McManamon drilled home Dublin's second goal.

The Metropolitan's evening was soured by the straight red card dismissal of Ger Brennan in the second half, however.

In Division Two, Laois and Louth finished level on 1-17 to 2-14 at Portlaoise.

John O'Loughlin gave Laois the edge with a goal, but goals from Andy McDonnell and Kevin Rogers gave the Wee County a point.

Jamie Clarke made his first apperance of the season for Armagh and inspired his side to a 3-8 to 1-9 win over Longford.

Clarke scored a goal and set up two more for Stefan Forker and Tony Kernan at the Athletic Grounds, where Francis McGee scored both Longford's goals.
