David De Gea reveals attempts to persuade Cesc Fabregas to join him at Old Trafford
David De Gea has admitted that he has been trying to convince his Spain team-mate Cesc Fabregas to join him at Manchester United.
Fabregas has been linked with a move away from Barcelona all summer, with United, Chelsea, and a return to Arsenal all mooted as possible destinations.
The goalkeeper De Gea revealed during an interview with Spanish television channel La Sexta that he has been speaking with the 27-year-old playmaker about a move to Old Trafford while they have been away on World Cup duty, saying: "I'm trying to get him to come."
It has been reported that the Nou Camp side will listen to offers for the 27-year-old this summer, and while Arsenal have a buy-back option of £25m that was agreed when they sold Fabregas to Barca in 2011, former Gunners' midfielder Ray Parlour says the club should not take this up.
"The problem with Fabregas is where do you put him in the team," Parlour said.
"They have got very similar players to Fabregas – they have Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere – if you bring Fabregas back, where do you fit him in?"
