Coole too hot for Thurles rivals

Coole Avenue produced a fine round of jumping to open his chase account in the Cashel Beginners Chase at Thurles.

Tom Cooper's charge was one of a group of runners to vie for the lead along the back straight, before taking a more solid lead on the turn for home.

Another good leap at the last put the race to bed, and Joe Holly was able to bring him home six-and-a-half lengths ahead of Stoney.

Ballysteen showed plenty of grit to land the Templemore Beginners Chase.

Mouse Morris' charge was left in a clear lead when favourite Third Opinion unshipped Ger Fox six out, but that gap had been whittled down by the second last.

The 13-2 chance pulled out more for Kevin Sexton, though, eventually scoring by 10 lengths from Bar Stool Bob.

"He jumped well and deserved it, and we'll try and find a little handicap for him somewhere," said Morris.
