Connacht have completed the signing of up-and-coming hooker James Rael from Munster on a one-year development contract.

The Limerick-born player has been with the Munster academy for the past year while also playing rugby with Garryowen in the AIL.

Rael has nine international caps with the Ireland under-20s and played at the Junior World Cup in South Africa last summer.

Speaking on the recent signing, Connacht Rugby Assistant Coach Dan McFarland said:“We are delighted that James will be joining us next season. He is coming from an environment that has produced a string of talented hookers. James is a talented ball player with a solid set piece game. Connacht will provide the opportunities and support for him to drive on to the next level.”
