Reigning Irish League champions Cliftonville bowed out of the Champions League at the second qualifying round stage after Debrecen completed a 2-0 aggregate victory.

After the first leg in Belfast had ended 0-0, the opening half at the Debrecen Stadium also reached the halfway stage scoreless.

But after Jamie McGovern was shown a red card early in the second period, Rene Mihelic scored from the resulting free-kick to put the hosts ahead.

And Ibrahim Sidibe added a second 11 minutes from time to end any hopes of a Cliftonville success.

TNS were also dumped out of the competition following a 3-0 aggregate defeat by Slovan Bratislava in the second qualifying round.

The Welsh Premier League champions entered the second leg at Belle Vue on Tuesday night with a 1-0 deficit, but instead of overhauling the Slovakian club they slumped to a 2-0 loss.

Marko Milinkovic scored both goals, the first of which did not arrive until the 75th minute.
