Neil Lennon is poised to make a £2.5million bid for Sunderland Republic of Ireland winger James McClean according to reports in the British press.
McClean, who has been linked with a move to Parkhead in the past, has dropped down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light since the arrival of Paolo Di Canio.
According to the Daily Express today Neil Lennon is interested in bringing in a new winger with Porto's Christian Astu also a possibility.
The Derry native has been embroiled in a few controversies in the past but would relish a move to the Scottish champions and it is believed that Lennon will try to push through a move before the Bhoys midweek Champions League clash with Elfsborg.
Celtic coach Garry Parker would not confirm or deny interest in either McClean or Astu following Celtic's 2-1 defeat to Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday.
"I've no idea. We've got options but I'm not going to say who they are," he said.
"There are people that we like. Two or three would be good but that's down to the manager.
"We've got our sights on a few players and we will see what happens."
